Phobias,
fears can be resolved easily in a comfortable way using
hypnosis in hypnotherapy
with an experienced, qualified hypnotherapist.
Hypnotism has been used to help people
with problems of the mind for centuries.
Symptoms: sudden fear followed by the fight, flight or
freeze response, or even a panic attack.
Sweating, shaking, cannot speak clearly, confused, at worst
pains in the chest that mimic a heart attack, This seems
out of all proportion to what is happening and there is
a general feeling of being out of control and must get away.
These symptoms can be felt, in part, even when thinking
of the place or activity.
Phobias can be linked to a range of things - flying, supermarkets,
heights, enclosed places, open places, darkness, illness,
blood, needles, hospitals, birds, cats, dogs, spiders, being
sick or near someone being sick, public speaking, crowds,
driving on motorways, driving on unfamiliar roads, driving
test, exams, intimacy. The two main categories are either
being the centre of attention
or out of control.
Phobias, fears are learnt patterns of behaviour and are
the result of a three stage process -
A. a sensitising event
B. a triggering event
C. anticipation increasing anxiety
Hypnotherapy is excellent at dealing with these problems
by -
1. regular relaxation into hypnosis during sessions and
at home using the back up programme(s) on CD or cassette
tape.
2. suggestion therapy under hypnosis, often dealing with
the recent triggering event(s)
3. the use of hypno-analysis, regression to find and resolve
the orginal event.

Case History - A. Quite often the client has built up a
lifestyle that avoids situations that can cause the fear
to kick in. One young woman of 23 had not been to a pub,
club, cinema, theatre, office meeting or indeed anywhere
that involved a group of people, since she left school.
After a few sessions, we found the cause, and she reported
going to the cinema twice that week - I asked what films
she had seen, and she said she couldn’t remember as it wasn’t
important. What was important that she had been able to
go there at all!
Case History - B. A young woman with a fear of birds recalled
a nightmare she had as a child where she was in her cot
and a big black bird flew in and perched on the end of the
cot. It then plucked out big black feathers gradually filling
the cot and smothering her. She rang me later that day to
tell me she was feeding the pigeons around her feet.
The original cause has to be found and resolved for there
to be a permanent change, and many people fear this will
involve some unknown horror which could even be sexual abuse,
. In fact the causes are often very mundane events that
the child (at the time) misinterpreted or was confused by.
It can even be the way someone has thought about something
or as above a dream.
